Timberwolves' Mo Williams remains sidelined with hip soreness

Brett Davis / USA Today Sports

The Minnesota Timberwolves will be short on depth at the point again Friday when the team visits the Philadelphia 76ers, as veteran Mo Williams is set to miss his second consecutive game.

Williams, who's dealing with hip soreness, was unavailable for Friday's win over the Boston Celtics to tend to a personal matter.

Rookie Zach LaVine will once again get the start at point in place of Williams. LaVine scored 17 points with six assists, four rebounds and three steals in Friday's win and should receive plenty of run for the undermanned Timberwolves.

Williams has cooled off since his 52-point outburst, averaging 12.9 points, while shooting 34 percent from the field in seven contests. His next chance to play is Saturday when the Timberwolves host the Cleveland Cavaliers for Kevin Love's return to Minnesota.
