Bulls' Butler unsure about Friday after hit to knee

Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

Coming off an emotional road victory over the league-leading Golden State Warriors, the Chicago Bulls disappointed in an overtime loss to the lowly Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday.

They also encountered yet another injury in the process.

Jimmy Butler, who earned his first All-Star selection just hours earlier, took a hit to his left knee on Thursday that has left his status for Friday's game against the Phoenix Suns in question.

Butler, who missed Tuesday's victory at Golden State due to illness, logged 49 minutes in Thurday's OT loss. The 25-year-old has suited up for 44 of Chicago's 48 games, leading the league with 39.7 minutes per game.

Butler, who is expected to receive a maximum contract extension as a restricted free agent this summer, also tied for the league-lead in minutes per game (38.7) last season.
