VIDEO: It turns out Dion Waiters doesn't want the ball, after all
David Richard-USA TODAY Sports
Dion Waiters always wants the ball.
He pleads for it. The Oklahoma City Thunder said they were going to make him feel more wanted, and Waiters has been thrilled to touch the ball more, whether he actually has or not. He'd surely tell you his 11.7 points per game so far with the Thunder could be higher, should he just get the ball more.
That appears to be all talk. As it turns out, Waiters doesn't actually want the ball.
That's how it looked on Monday, with Waiters coughing the rock up on a wide open fast break against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Twice. And then missing a layup. It wasn't his finest moment.
That's not how you make up for the absence of Kevin Durant, Waiters.
