Spurs' Leonard will not play Monday

Soobum Im-USA TODAY Sports

The San Antonio Spurs will be without small forward Kawhi Leonard when they take on the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night, the team announced.

Leonard is dealing with a torn ligament in his hand, though reports indicate that he will not require surgery. His timeline for a return to action is not yet known.

The Spurs weathered the loss of Leonard early in the season, as the star swingman sat out due to an eye infection. However, with injuries and old age taking a toll on the Spurs' roster, San Antonio has dropped five of their last seven contests.

Leonard is averaging 15.2 points, 7.6 rebounds and two steals per game. Rookie Kyle Anderson has started at small forward in his absence.
