Thunder's Durant out Sunday; day-to-day with ankle sprain

Kyle Terada / USA Today Sports

The Oklahoma City Thunder will once again be shorthanded for Sunday's clash against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Kevin Durant is set to miss his second consecutive game with a right ankle sprain, according to Royce Young of ESPN. Thunder coach Scott Brooks said Durant is definitely improving and is considered day-to-day.

Durant's next chance to play will come Tuesday against the Portland Trail Blazers

The Thunder's superstar was also on the sidelines for Friday's one-point victory over the Los Angeles Lakers after rolling his ankle in Thursday's loss to the Golden State Warriors. Durant logged just 19 minutes in the defeat, but still managed to drop a season-high 30 points.

Injuries have limited Durant to nine of Oklahoma City's 27 games this season. The reigning MVP is averaging 22.4 points on a career-high 53 percent shooting from the field in 28.2 minutes per game.
