Warriors' Lee expected to return Monday vs. Kings

Kyle Terada-US PRESSWIRE

Barring a setback, David Lee will be in uniform for the Golden State Warriors' next contest.

Lee participated in his first full practice Saturday since re-injuring his left hamstring at the beginning of November.

The Warriors' power forward was a participant in a full-court scrimmage, too, and appears set to play in his second game of the season Monday against the Sacramento Kings, according to Carl Steward of the San Jose Mercury News

"He looked good, he was moving really well, his hamstring's fine," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. "He told me everything else is sore now, which is a good sign. He's getting back into basketball shape and running a lot of sprints."

A hamstring strain forced Lee to miss the start of the season, and he lasted just seven minutes in his first game after tweaking it. He has been out since.

The Warriors haven't needed him, though, as they're off to their best start in franchise history with a 22-3 record.

Kerr said he still has to figure out how many minutes Lee can handle and which players will mesh best together, but with Andrew Bogut now out indefinitely the timing of Lee's return couldn't be more perfect.

"We have a decent idea of what we're going to do, but we'll have to see the different combinations on the court," Kerr said. "But with Bogut being out, it almost makes it easier to incorporate David into the lineup because there are more minutes."

Lee averaged 18.2 points and 10 rebounds in his previous four seasons with the Warriors.

Draymond Green has played well starting in place of Lee. The third-year forward is averaging 13.1 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.3 blocks through 25 games.
