Mavericks' Felton eligible to return Monday following suspension

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Raymond Felton will be back with the Dallas Mavericks on Monday, though it's not clear exactly what role he'll be returning to.

Felton missed the first 10 games of the season recovering from a sprained ankle and has spent the last four serving a suspension for pleading guilty to gun possession charges in the offseason. The league doesn't allow injured players to serve suspension time, so Felton was forced to recover and then sit out his ban.

He'll be available to the Mavericks when they take on the Indiana Pacers on Monday, but how much he'll be used is a question best left to head coach Rick Carlisle.

Starting point guard Jameer Nelson has been decent, if unspectacular. Backup Devin Harris is the team's best defender at the position and J.J. Barea has provided a huge offensive spark off the bench. Felton is a solid offensive player, but he has several names to jump unless Dallas is planning on frequently running multi-guard lineups - and while the Mavericks stand as the league's best offense, they don't have any reason to shake things up on that end.
