Dwight Howard questionable Saturday following PRP injection for knee

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

Dwight Howard could miss his second consecutive game on Saturday when the Houston Rockets host the Dallas Mavericks.

Howard was a late scratch on Wednesday due to a strained right knee, and underwent platelet-rich protein therapy on the knee Thursday. Though Howard said Friday that he felt much better, he remains questionable for Saturday's game.

His absence would loom incredibly large for the Texas showdown. No team is even close to Dallas in terms of offensive efficiency, but Houston's No. 3 defense - understandably much better with Howard on the floor - would have a chance to hang if their center can play.

In 10 games this season, Howard is averaging 18.8 points, 11.3 rebounds and 2.3 blocks, and Houston allows just 93.9 points per-100 possessions with him on the floor. Without Howard on Wednesday, Tarik Black started at center and the Rockets embarrassingly lost 98-92 to the Los Angeles Lakers.
