Brook Lopez out again Saturday, Nets coach Hollins 'not optimistic anymore'

Brook Lopez is still feeling the effects of a right foot sprain and has been ruled out for the Brooklyn Nets' game Saturday against the Detroit Pistons.

Nets coach Lionel Hollins is becoming concerned about Lopez's status after the center missed practice Friday.

"I was optimistic every day. When he doesn’t come out and practice, I’m not optimistic anymore," Hollins told Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News. "But he was doing part of the drills so I figured he was getting better. Now he didn’t practice (Friday) so he’s not going to play (Saturday)."

Lopez has been plagued by numerous foot issues that have required multiple surgeries, and he hasn't played since December 2013. He's missed 135 of the Nets' last 232 games.

"He just has pain," Hollins said. "He was having pain before and looked like he was going better, but now he can’t. It’s not my call of when he does practice or when he doesn't."

Mason Plumlee will once again get the start Saturday in Lopez's place.
