The reigning Rookie of the Year, Philadelphia 76ers point guard Michael Carter-Williams, is way ahead of schedule in his recovery from a right shoulder surgery.

As Sixers head coach Brett Brown told Tom Moore of the Intelligencer, Carter-Williams is expected to return to scrimmages on Nov. 6.

“We (will) welcome him back with open arms,” Brown said.

Carter-Williams was originally slated to miss six-to-nine months after having surgery in May, so a return within the next two weeks would put him on the shorter side of that timeline.

With Carter-Williams healthy, the Sixers would likely bump Tony Wroten back to the bench, but Brown says they will take it slow in Carter-Williams's return.

“I think we can give him sporadic minutes quite soon,” Brown said.

Carter-Williams averaged 16.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 6.3 assists and 1.9 steals as a rookie.
