Kings' Gay leaves game after taking elbow to face

Matt Marton / USA TODAY Sports

Sacramento Kings forward Rudy Gay left Friday's preseason finale against the Los Angeles Lakers after taking an elbow to the face from rookie Julius Randle.

Gay will not return to the game, which is taking place in Las Vegas. He'll undergo a jaw X-ray in Sacramento, according to The Sacramento Bee's Jason Jones.

Gay scored eight points and grabbed a couple of rebounds in 15 minutes of action against L.A. He finished his preseason averaging 12.3 points on just under 38 percent shooting through six games.

Gay turned his season around last year after a December trade from the Toronto Raptors. After shooting 38 percent in 18 disappointing games with the Raptors, Gay averaged 20.1 points on 48 percent shooting in 55 games with the Kings.
