Report: Nets will not replace The Brooklyn Knight, to go without mascot

The Brooklyn Knight is dead. Taking his place will be nothing.

The Nets have opted not to replace the league's worst mascot at all for the upcoming season, instead deciding to go mascot-free for the 2014-15 campaign, according to The Brooklyn Game

Apparently, the Nets had considered a redesign of the failed Knight, or a re-introduction of New Jersey Nets mascot Sly, but the team landed on no mascot.

While it's little more than a footnote to diehards, a mascot can have an appreciable impact on the in-stadium experience, especially for children (and for some lucky teams, at merchandise stands). The Nets would be well-served to reconsider the decision for future seasons.
