Pacers-Wizards Game 6 conflicts with Lady Gaga concert at Verizon Center

Should the second round series between the Indiana Pacers and Washington Wizards need a sixth game, fans that show up to the Verizon Center on the scheduled date on May 15 may get more than they bargained for.

Michael Lee of the Washington Post explains:

The dates for the seven-game series have already been set, but if the series extends to six games, the Wizards would have a scheduling problem on May 15 because of a Lady Gaga concert that is already booked for that night. The Wizards released a statement on Saturday night that read, “We are aware of the potential conflict and are working with the promoter in the event Game 6 is necessary, more information will be released when it becomes available."

Amazingly, this isn't an extraordinary situation in Washington. In 2009, a Yanni concert in Pittsburgh forced the Penguins and Capitals to play on back-to-back nights, and in 2000, the Capitals played a series with the Penguins out of order.

Washington should have gotten Games 1 and 2 at home, but instead played the series out of order because of a trio of events at Mellon Arena that conflicted with the dates for Game 4 - an episode of "WWF Smachdown," a two-day Latin dance concert called "Burn The Floor," and an ice show featuring Olympic figure skaters.

The Spurs have their rodeo road trip, and the Bulls have their circus road trip. This could be the NBA's first-ever Gaga conflict.

Lady Gaga has shows in New York on Tuesday and Detroit on Saturday, with a show at the Verizon Center in Washington sandwiched in between on Thursday.

At the moment, tickets for Game 3 of the Wizards-Pacers series are selling for double to triple the price of the Lady Gaga concert.
