Pacers' late run helps them hold off Hawks and even series 3-3

Jason Getz / USA TODAY Sports

The Indiana Pacers had their backs against the wall in a must-win Game 6 in Atlanta against the Hawks, but the team was able to gut out a 95-88 win to force a Game 7 on Saturday.

The game was still in doubt late in the fourth quarter, with the Hawks holding a late five-point lead which had the Pacers on the brink of elimination, but the team fought back and closed the game on a 16-4 run to come out of Atlanta with a victory.

Star Performer

His counterpart, Paul Millsap, had a full stat line of his own with 16 points, 18 rebounds, five assists, three steals, and two blocks, but Player of the Game honors go to Pacers power forward David West in this one.

West had 24 points on 10-of-20 shooting with 11 rebounds, six assists, and two steals in a must-win game for the Pacers.

One player that certainly wasn't a candidate for this honor was Roy Hibbert, who was held scoreless for the second consecutive game.

Turning Point

The Hawks held an 84-79 lead with three minutes to play when David West was fouled by Paul Millsap. West went to the line and proceeded to knock down both of his free throws.

The Hawks brought the ball up court and West proceeded to steal it from Pero Antic. On the possession that followed, West knocked down a 19-foot jump shot.

That sequence jump-started a game-deciding 16-4 run for the Pacers.
