Nick Young thinks he's the league's best shooting guard

Nick Young thinks he's the best shooting guard in the NBA. Seriously.

Maybe this shouldn't be surprising, given everything we know about Young, but it still seems strange that he lacks the self-awareness to tell a fan on Twitter that he's the top two-guard in the league.

Zach Harper of Eye On Basketball thinks maybe Young is referring to a different "SG" here:

Now it's possible SG stands for "Swag Getter" but I think he meant shooting guard.

Yeah, we doubt it, too. Confidence is a great thing to have, but so is humility and, you know, sanity.

But hey, Swaggy P had a pretty good season coming off the bench for the Lakers - he averaged a career-high 17.9 points and was the most efficient he's been in his entire career, posting an above-average player efficiency rating (16) and true shooting percentage (56.3 percent) for the first time.

His scoring average was 20th among all guards and wings and was fifth on a per-minute basis, trailing only LeBron James, Russell Westbrook, James Harden and Steph Curry.

Unfortunately, all Young can do is score. He was one of just two players in the league to average more than 10 shot attempts per game (he took 13.9) while averaging fewer than three rebounds, two assists, one steal and half a block. The other was Kevin Martin, a fine player but not exactly elite company.

With Young set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, here's hoping he doesn't negotiate as if he's the league's top shooting guard. And if he returns to the Lakers, well, he better take that comment back.
