Kevin Durant's 51 points help Thunder sink Raptors in double overtime

MVP chants were raining down at the Air Canada Centre as Kyle Lowry, who had forced double overtime with a crucial three-pointer in the first extra frame, stepped up to the free throw line.

With the Toronto Raptors already leading by six points, Lowry proceeded to hit both free throws, putting the Raptors up 118-110 and 49 seconds away from completing a season sweep against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Only a collapse of epic proportions would deny Toronto of its 39th win of the season.

Then, Durant hit a quick three-pointer with 46 seconds remaining. 118-113.

Then, John Salmons committed a turnover and Derek Fisher subsequently hit a three-ball of his own with 15 seconds left. 118-116.

Then, after Salmons missed both free throws following an intentional foul, this happened:

Thunder win 119-118.

It was a tragic ending for the resilient Raptors, who broke an NBA record by losing their 10th consecutive contest that's required overtime at home. Salmons was reportedly "inconsolable" for the mistakes he made in the final seconds.

The game-winning shot means that Durant, who finished the night with 51 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists, one steal, and one block, is now one of only three opponents to score 50 points or more at the Air Canada Centre.

But while Durant's stat line clearly stands out above the rest, he wasn't the only player to post impressive numbers:

Reggie Jackson (OKC) - 25 PTS, 12 REB, 3 AST, 1 BLK

DeMar DeRozan (TOR) - 33 PTS, 8 REB, 3 AST, 2 STL

Kyle Lowry (TOR) - 25 PTS, 6 REB, 4 AST, 3 STL

Amir Johnson (TOR) - 25 pts, 12 REB, 5 BLK, 4 AST, 2 STL

Following the dramatic finish, Durant said that it was "the craziest game he's been a part of" while adding that he "couldn't go another overtime" and "had to get out of there."

Perhaps he'll be heading to Mississauga.
