Report: Isaiah Thomas available but has ligament strain in wrist

"A short-term nuisance" is how the wrist injury to Isaiah Thomas was described by a source to Yahoo Sports, but it's a nuisance that could cool the market for the point guard before it could even heat up.

Earlier on Tuesday, a report surfaced that the Sacramento Kings were open to dealing Thomas, a restricted free agent this summer, if the right deal came along.

Late Tuesday, however, came the report that Thomas is injured, playing through strained ligaments in his shooting (right) wrist. While Thomas has been able to play through the injury, "further complications could lead to him missing time," according to the report. He underwent an MRI on Tuesday with results coming back negative and is expected to play on Wednesday.

As explained in the story below, Thomas' breakout is an interesting case given his contract status and the Kings salary cap situation moving forward. Injury news so close to Thursday's trade deadline is almost surely a deal-killer, though.
