Report: Lakers, Nets discussing deal involving Jordan Hill

According to Yahoo! Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, the Brooklyn Nets have held discussions with the Los Angeles Lakers about acquiring forward Jordan Hill ahead of Thursday's trade deadline.

While Hill would certainly help fill the void left by center Brook Lopez (who suffered a season-ending foot injury in December), the deal would be accompanied by quite an expensive caveat. As Wojnarowski points out, adding Hill to their payroll would push the Nets over the luxury tax and impose a near-$17 million penalty on team ownership.

The Nets would be doling out upwards of $190 million to fill out their roster this season should they add Hill, who averages 8.5 points and seven rebounds off the bench for the struggling Lakers.
