Lillard retains Skills Challenge crown with Burke via 0.1-second victory

It was a photo finish in the Skills Challenge on NBA All-Star Saturday Night.

The course requires each player to dribble through an obstacle course, making chest and bounce passes and hitting layups or dunks and jumpers. In a new twist, the competition was done in teams of two rather than as individuals.

In the first round, it was the defending champion and his new tag-team partner setting the pace. Here are the first round results, in chronological order:

(East) DeMar DeRozan and Giannis Antetokounmpo - 45 seconds

(East) Victor Oladipo and Michael Carter-Williams - 43.3 seconds

(West) Goran Dragic and Reggie Jackson - 42.3 seconds

(West) Trey Burke and Damian Lillard - 40.6 seconds

That sent the team of Oladipo and Carter-Williams and the team of Burke and Lillard to the finals. The East lost two seconds on their time, checking in at 45.3 seconds, while the West team narrowly beat them with a time of 45.2 seconds.

It really came down to Oladipo pumping his dunk at the end of their finals run. Seriously, they lost by 0.1 seconds and he pumped on his dunk. That's a tough one.

In any case, Lillard has his second straight Skills Challenge title, sharing it this time with Burke.
