Poll: If Cleveland had to ax one team, Cavaliers a landslide pick to go

Talk about kicking a team while they're down.

With the news the Cuyahoga County Sin tax is up for renewal -- the tax on booze and cigarettes that pays for the professional sports in Cleveland -- an online poll from the Cleveland Plain Dealer had a question for its readers:

"If Cleveland had to give up one of its three major professional sports teams which one would you choose?"

Turns out 81 percent want to give the Cleveland Cavaliers the boot over losing the Browns or Indians. Yes, you read that right, even over losing the Browns.

To be fair, the city already lost the Browns in 1996, when the team moved to Baltimore. And the Indians have no recent World Series, but five pennants and 11 playoff appearances in their history.

The Cavs, meanwhile, lost LeBron James and are afraid the same will happen to Kyrie Irving. A 117-86 rout at the hands of the New York Knicks Thursday night didn't help boost the Cavaliers support in the city when the vote hot the web.

Here's hoping the the lease is renewed for 20 years. It's the closest thing we'll get to supporting smoking.
