J.R. Smith on Knicks waiving his brother: 'I'm over it'

Time heals all wounds, even if that time is only a few days.

After claiming he felt betrayed on his Instagram account earlier this week after the New York Knicks released his younger brother Chris, J.R. Smith told the New York Post Thursday, that he's no longer concerned.

“I’m not worried about it now. It’s my brother’s problem now. I’m over it. I’m fine with everybody. I have no problems with nobody.”

The Post reported that Knicks president Steve Mills broke the news to the brothers during a meeting Monday, before they officially waived Chris. J.R. said that while he wasn't necessarily happy about the decision, there was nothing he could do about it.

“My protection and defense for him never changed ever since we were kids growing up, it’s not going to change now. He’s made it this far without me. I don’t think he needs me to hold his hand.”

Chris only played two minutes this season and has already collected a guaranteed $491,000 from the Knicks, so there shouldn't be too many complaints.
