Report: Knicks unwilling to part with Shumpert for Raptors' Lowry

According to Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski, the New York Knicks are treading cautiously when it comes to trying to acquire Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry.

Knicks owner Jim Dolan is no stranger to dealing with Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri, which is one of the main reasons why the team has remained cautious. Ujiri - who previously was the general manager of the Nuggets - has already fleeced the Knicks twice in his career.

  • Feb. 22, 2011 - New York trades Danilo Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler, Timofey Mozgov, their 2014 first-round pick and two second-round picks to Denver. The Knicks also traded Anthony Randolph and Eddy Curry’s expiring contract to the Minnesota Timberwolves, who sent Corey Brewer to New York and Kosta Koufos to Denver. The Knicks received Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Shelden Williams, Renaldo Balkman and Anthony Carter.
  • July. 10, 2013 - New York trades Steve Novak, Marcus Camby, Quentin Richardson, a future first-round pick and two future second-round picks to Toronto for Andrea Bargnani.

This time around the Knicks are attempting to hold on to it's younger pieces, having refused Toronto's proposal of Lowry for Iman Shumpert and Raymond Felton. The Knicks are also reluctant to trade what few first-round picks they have or rookie Tim Hardaway Jr. Wojnarowski is reporting that without either Shumpert or a first-round pick, a deal is unlikely to be made.

Brooklyn has also had it's name mentioned to be in the works, but like the Knicks, will not part with their first-round pick in 2020 or rookie Mason Plumlee.
