Jay Z: Drug dealing experience helps as agent
Being a drug dealer is just like being a sports agent. Of course it is. Of course it is.
Jay Z recently spoke with Vanity Fair and outlined how his past as a drug dealer helps him now that he's a sports agent:
“I know about budgets. I was a drug dealer. To be in a drug deal, you need to know what you can spend, what you need to re-up. Or if you want to start some sort of barbershop or car wash—those were the businesses back then. Things you can get in easily to get out of [that] life. At some point, you have to have an exit strategy, because your window is very small; you're going to get locked up or you're going to die.”
It's very unclear how any of that pertains to being a sports agent whatsoever, but there it is.
Look, all respect to Hova - he is an incredibly successful and talented, self-made man, but that's a pretty poor explanation for how drug dealing helps with being an agent.
