New York Knicks legend and Hall of Famer Bernard King enjoyed watching Jalen Brunson break his postseason scoring record during the team's current playoff run.

During an appearance on ESPN's "NBA Today" on Thursday, King explained why he was especially happy that Brunson was the one to surpass his franchise record of 46 points in a playoff game.

"Records are made to be broken," King said. "But to have somebody like Brunson breaking those type of records, that provides the leadership that he provides on that ball club, and his understanding of the game, and looking at how much he loves the game, and the crowd, how they respond to him, it's just wonderful. I love watching him play. So I'm delighted that he's the one that actually broke those records."

Brunson scored 47 points in Game 4 of the Knicks' first-round series against the Philadelphia 76ers to break King's mark. Brunson also joined King as one of four players in NBA history to score 40-plus points in four straight playoff games.

"It's amazing to be sitting there personally watching it in the Garden as it's taking place," King said of watching Brunson. "The beauty of his game, most people don't realize, he's a scorer ... he knows how to score. He's mastered the art of scoring."

Brunson and the Knicks will face the Indiana Pacers on Friday night in Game 3 of their conference semifinal series. The Knicks enter the game with a 2-0 lead over the Pacers.
