Report: Sixers claim Mo Williams, immediately waive him

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia 76ers claimed point guard Mo Williams on Friday and immediately put him back on waivers in an attempt to get $2.2 million closer to the salary cap floor, sources tell CSN's Jessica Camerato.

Williams has bounced around organizations over the past couple weeks, spending time with four different teams this month alone. The 6-foot-1 guard was acquired by the Denver Nuggets earlier this week before immediately getting waived.

The 33-year-old has yet to play a game since last season, when he averaged 8.2 points, 2.4 assists, and 1.8 rebounds on 43.7 percent shooting for the title-winning Cleveland Cavaliers.

With Williams back on waivers, the Sixers used their extra roster spot to re-sign guard Chasson Randle to a second 10-day contract.
