It's been a decade since a player last notched a triple-double in an NBA season opener, with Jason Kidd doing so as a member of the New Jersey Nets at the start of the 2006-07 campaign.

Reigning Finals Most Valuable Player LeBron James achieved the feat himself on Tuesday when the Cleveland Cavaliers hosted the New York Knicks at Quicken Loans Arena.

In 32 minutes of action, James scored 19 points on 9-of-14 shooting, grabbed 11 rebounds, and dished out 14 assists as the Cavaliers cruised to a convincing 117-88 victory in front of their hometown fans.

His triple-double was the 43rd of his career, three of which came last season.

It was a special night for James and the organization, as members of last year's roster received their rings from commissioner Adam Silver, with the first championship banner in franchise history hoisted to the rafters.

The Cavaliers will now travel north of the border to take on the Toronto Raptors on Friday night at the Air Canada Centre in a rematch of the Eastern Conference finals.
