Hasheem Thabeet: 'I could be one of the NBA's top shot-blockers'

Former NBA No. 2 overall pick Hasheem Thabeet is generally considered to be one of the prominent draft busts of the past decade. However, the 7-foot-3 center has been attempting a comeback over the last few months, and he's confident he can contribute defensively to a team that gives him a chance.

"I would reclaim the rim protector title," Thabeet told Basketball Insiders' Alex Kennedy. "I definitely think I could be one of the NBA's top shot-blockers."

It was reported last month that Thabeet was working toward a return, and that teams were interested. The Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, and Washington Wizards recently worked out Thabeet, according to Kennedy. However, nothing has yet to materialize as the regular season nears.

Thabeet last played in the league with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2014. While he lacked NBA-calibre footwork, Thabeet averaged 1.3 blocks per game in his rookie season in 2009-10 with the Memphis Grizzlies.
