Hornets' Williams fractures finger

The Charlotte Hornets announced Wednesday that forward Marvin Williams suffered a non-displaced fracture in his left middle finger.

The 30-year-old will be re-evaluated Oct. 25, one day ahead of the team's regular-season opener against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Williams, who re-upped with Charlotte this summer on a four-year, $54.5-million deal, was slated to start at the four-spot.

The 11-year veteran has been healthy for the Hornets, only missing five games over the past two campaigns. He had a 16.8 PER last year, to go along with 11.7 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.

Head coach Steve Clifford said there's a "good chance" Williams will be available when the campaign kicks off.

Should the former No. 2 pick miss time, however, Frank Kaminsky and Cody Zeller figure to get more minutes in his stead.
