Rondo laughs at low rankings for Bulls, says they'll finish in top 4

Rajon Rondo has high hopes for his new team.

The point guard joined the Chicago Bulls in the offseason to form a Big Three - or, as they call it, "the 3 Alphas" - with fellow free-agent acquisition Dwyane Wade and All-Star Jimmy Butler.

Armed with all that backcourt talent, Rondo expects to help lead the revamped Bulls back to both the upper echelon of the Eastern Conference and the postseason, after they finished just outside of the playoff picture last year.

Not everyone envisions that happening, though.

The four-time All-Star, who won a championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008, came across an article that predicts Chicago will finish in the bottom four of the improved East.

"Had to laugh at that," he told reporters Thursday. "Looking forward to being in the top four. That's the goal.

"We're gonna surprise people," the 30-year-old added.

The Bulls are one of the more difficult teams to project because they lost the majority of their core - including Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, and Paul Gasol - over the summer.

They'll rely on the likes of their new trio of "Alphas," new addition Robin Lopez, and some younger players such as Doug McDermott and Nikola Mirotic.
