John Stockton attends Bucks training camp

Former Utah Jazz point guard John Stockton is the NBA's all-time assists leader (15,806), and delivered another Wednesday by lending Milwaukee Bucks head coach Jason Kidd a hand at training camp.

"If you want to help your guys at some of the positions, you find the best and I got very lucky John could join us these next couple days," Kidd told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Charles Gardner.

Stockton was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009 after 19 seasons in Salt Lake City, where he also became the league's all-time leader in steals (3,265). Kidd ranks second with 2,684 of his own.

"He gave me a hard time for not saying he was a great athlete," Kidd joked. “You’re not (Russell) Westbrook or someone who is touching the top of the backboard.

“But you know how to play the game. Probably everyone counted him out, but him. Just running the show. We have Malcolm (Brogdon) and Delly (Matthew Dellavedova). I see like they have some of him. And I told him we have a pretty big point guard, too."

That "big" point guard happens to be 6-foot-11 Giannis Antetokounmpo, who's nearly a foot taller than Stockton. Kidd has expressed his desire to run the Greek Freak at the point, and with Michael Carter-Williams seemingly set to lead the second unit, that scenario has become even more likely.

In terms of what Stockton can teach someone the size of Antetokounmpo, Kidd's response was merely, "we'll see."

"You talk about the best player at his position to be here," Kidd added. "We’re very lucky."
