Wade to Bosh: Put your family first

Kim Klement / USA TODAY Sports

Chris Bosh's NBA career appears to be in serious jeopardy, as evidence of more blood clotting has reportedly been discovered by Miami Heat doctors.

Bosh, who's seen his past two seasons cut short due to blood clots, failed his team physical and hasn't been cleared to play for the Heat in 2016-17. That's another tough pill to swallow for the 11-time All-Star, who's still near his prime at just 32 years old. But longtime former teammate Dwyane Wade wants to make sure his friend's priorities are in order.

"To me, the biggest thing is Chris has five kids and a wife and a family," Wade told Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press. "I told him focus on that first."

LeBron James, another of Bosh's former Heat teammates, expressed similar sentiments last season, in the midst of Bosh's second blood-clot scare.

"I think his health and his family is the most important thing," James said. "Basketball is a huge part of our lives, and, obviously, he wants to be on the floor. But as a friend I want him to be as healthy as possible."

Bosh's precarious physical situation has reportedly created friction between him and the Heat, as he's expressed a desire to return, only to have the door barred by the organization. The Heat would clearly benefit from having Bosh on the floor, but like Wade and James, they're prioritizing his health and future.
