This was less of a shot by the NBA's all-time leading scorer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and more of a giant sky hook.

The 69-year-old spoke during the final day of the Democratic National Convention to introduce a film about Captain Humayun Khan, who was an American Muslim soldier who died in combat since 9/11.

Abdul-Jabbar, who is himself Muslim, also addressed presidential candidate Donald Trump's idea to register Muslim citizens and prevent them from entering America.

"At its core, discrimination is a result of fear," Jabbar said. "Those who think Americans scare easily, enough to abandon our country's ideals in exchange for a false sense of security, underestimate our resolve. To them, we say only this: Not here, not ever."
