The Brooklyn Nets have requested waivers on point guard Jarrett Jack, the team announced on Thursday.

Jack was set to make $6.3 million in 2016-17.

By waiving the 32-year-old, the Nets will only have to pay him $500,000 of what he was going to be owed, or nothing if a team ultimately claims him off of waivers. His contract was set to be fully guaranteed on Thursday.

Brooklyn had reportedly been shopping Jack to other teams, with his release a sign that no one was willing to bite on a deal.

Jack spent the past two two seasons suiting up for the Nets after being acquired by the franchise in a three-team trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics. He averaged 12.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 5.4 assists on 42.5 percent shooting during that span.

The Georgia Tech product was sidelined for all but 32 games during the 2015-16 campaign after suffering a torn ACL and small medial meniscus tear in his right knee in January.
