Hornets tender qualifying offer to Troy Daniels

The Charlotte Hornets extended a qualifying offer to guard Troy Daniels, the team announced Wednesday.

The offer is worth about $1.2 million, according to Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer, and ensures the Virginia native will be a restricted free agent July 1.

Daniels joined the Hornets in February 2015 via a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

In his first full year in Charlotte, the 24-year-old averaged 5.6 points and 1.3 rebounds in 11.1 minutes off the bench. A hamstring injury, among other issues, limited him to 43 contests for the 48-win Hornets. His best outing came Jan. 26, when he scored a career-high 28 points, including eight 3-pointers and the game-winner.
