No. 98 team receives P3 penalty

The No. 98 team has been given a P3 level penalty for having an unattached weight come off of the car during practice July 24, according to NASCAR.com.

Crew chief Scott Eggleston has been fined $25,000, and has been suspended from the next Sprint Cup Series race. He will be on probation through Dec. 31.

Car chief Kevin Eagle has also been suspended from the next Sprint Cup race and put on probation through Dec. 31, while the owner of the car, Mike Curb, will forfeit 15 championship car owner points.

Josh Wise is the regular pilot of the No. 98 Ford, but Timmy Hill has taken over driving duties the past two weeks. He finished 41st last week and 38th the week before.
