Martin Truex Jr. looking for 2nd win of season at Pocono

After capturing his first win of the NASCAR Sprint Cup season at the Axalta "We Paint Winners" 400 in June at Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania, Martin Truex Jr. hasn't exactly had an easy ride.

Truex had led the most laps in three races prior to his win, but didn't win any of those three races. When he finally rolled his No. 78 Chevy to a victory, it looked like the 35-year-old's season was about to turn around.

Unfortunately for the New Jersey native, that wasn't the case.

His next five finishes were 3rd, 42nd, 38th, 17th, and 12th, respectively. A disappointing turn of events for the driver who had 12 top 10s in the 13 races before Pocono.

After a rough month of July, Truex finally grabbed a better finish, fourth place, at the Jeff Kyle 400 at Indianapolis on July 26. He currently sits in fifth place in the driver standings - 109 points behind leader Kevin Harvick.

If Truex wins at Pocono this weekend, he will become the eighth driver in history to sweep both races at Pocono in the same season - joining Bobby Allison (1983), Bill Elliott (1985), Tim Richmond (1986), Jimmie Johnson (2004), Denny Hamlin (2006) and Dale Earnhardt Jr. (2014).

"That's a stout group of drivers and it would be pretty special to be included with them," Truex said in a press release from Catchfence.com. "After winning there last month, how can you not feel good and upbeat about returning to Pocono? We're going to have a big target on our back but that's okay. We'll use everything we learned last time and more to hopefully achieve a Pocono sweep."
