Joe Gibbs Racing sweeps 2nd weekend in a row at Indy

Another weekend, another sweep for Joe Gibbs Racing.

NASCAR paid a visit to Indianapolis Motor Speedway on July 26 and Joe Gibbs Racing took the pole and the win for both the Xfinity Series and the Sprint Cup Series.

Kyle Busch was the winningest member of JGR, capturing the Coors Light Pole Award and winning the Xfinity Series Lilly Diabetes 250 on Saturday. On Sunday, Busch snatched his fourth win in five races in the Jeff Kyle 400. It was also his third victory in a row. Carl Edwards nabbed the Coors Light Pole Award - for the second week in a row - in the Jeff Kyle 400.

Success for the team doesn't come as a surprise considering it swept July 19 weekend, too - winning both pole positions and both races.

Seven of the first 20 races of the 2015 Sprint Cup season have been won by JGR members, compared to just four victories last year. Joe Gibbs, owner of the team, says he knows how hard it is to stay on top in the sport and is proud of their accomplishments.

"You can be on the top in pro sports, and a few little things turn, you can go right to being mediocre or in the back of the pack," Gibbs told ESPN after Sunday’s Brickyard 400. "It takes a lot of hard work to get back, and that's what I'm so proud of our team."

"It took us a full year and a half, but we bounced back. In pro sports you see that, and really what you have to say about pro sports, the hardest thing is what? To stay up there."

Among the triumphs, there only seems to be one weak spot this year on the JGR team - Matt Kenseth.

Kenseth hasn't won a race since April at Bristol Motor Speedway and his last pole win was at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May. In the 12 starts since his last win, Kenseth has collected three top 5s and eight top 10s.

The drivers have a chance to make it three-in-a-row this weekend at Pocono in Pennsylvania. The Xfinity Series U.S. Cellular 250 is on Saturday at 8 p.m. ET and the Sprint Cup Series Windows 10 400 will take place at 1:30 p.m. ET on Sunday.
