Labonte, Smith named to NASCAR's 2016 Hall of Fame class

The NASCAR 2016 Hall of Fame class was revealed Wednesday at the Charlotte Convention Center. Those inducted included Terry Labonte, Bruton Smith, Jerry Cook, Bobby Isaac and Curtis Turner.

Labonte, 56, is a two-time Sprint Cup Champion (1984, 1996) and registered 22 career Sprint Cup victories. He held the nicknames of "Ice Man" and "Texas Terry", and ranks third on NASCAR's all-time starts list with 890.

Smith, 88, is the CEO of Speedway Motorsports Inc. and put on the first 600-mile race at Charlotte Motor Speedway in 1960. His company currently owns eight race tracks that host 12 races in the Sprint Cup Series.

Cook, 71, won six NASCAR Modified Tour championships including four in a row from 1974-1977.

Isaac, who died in 1977 at age 45, had one of the best stretches in NASCAR history with 28 victories and 33 pole positions from 1969 to 1970.

Turner, who passed away in a plane crash in 1970 at age 46, had the most wins in NASCAR's Convertible Division with 11.
