Regan Smith gets to keep Kurt Busch's car for at least 1 more race

Regan Smith will get at least one more race in Kurt Busch's car.

Smith will once again be behind the wheel of No. 41 for Sunday's Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500, Stewart-Haas Racing announced Monday.

Smith did well on short notice at Sunday's Daytona 500 after Busch was suspended indefinitely Friday. The 31-year-old started 24th but finished 16th overall.

SHR has not committed to Smith beyond the next race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Smith previously filled in for Tony Stewart last year at Watkins Glen when the team co-owner took a self-imposed leave from the sport.

Smith hasn't competed in a full Sprint Cup season since 2012. He has one victory, at Darlington in 2011, since making his Sprint Cup debut in 2007.
