Kimi Raikkonen on return to NASCAR: 'Hopefully I can do more of those'

Driver Kimi Raikkonen isn’t ruling out a return to NASCAR racing when his Formula One career is over.

The Ferrari driver made an appearance at a Shell Racing event Thursday night in Texas, where both NASCAR and the United States Grand Prix (where Raikkonen is participating) are taking place this weekend.

“I was very pleasantly surprised how nice and how good fun it was,” Raikkonen said of his first NASCAR experience. He competed in both the Nationwide (27th-place finish) and Truck Series (15th-place finish) races on the same weekend in Charlotte in 2011.

“It's not easy, like any top-level sport, but I really enjoyed that time, and hopefully I can do more of those and hopefully in the future, some Sprint Cup. But we'll see."

Raikkonen’s foray into NASCAR was with Kyle Busch Motorsports, funded by Raikkonen.
