Vickers tests new Camry at Auto Club Speedway

Toyota Racing

Michael Waltrip Racing driver Brian Vickers got an early jump on the 2015 season by testing the newly redesigned Toyota Camry, set to debut next season in the XFINITY and Sprint Cup Series.

Vickers and the No. 55 team headed to Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California this week to take the car out for a test session.

"It was good to get some time behind the wheel of the 2015 Camry,” Vickers said. “We brought a lot of engineers from MWR and Toyota Racing Development to Fontana to work on the car.”

Though most drivers were at Homestead-Miami Speedway for a separate testing session, Vickers was by himself on the west coast.

“I don't know if you have ever been to a test, but it isn't very exciting for a race car driver,” he said. “I drive for a couple of laps, tell them what I feel, then the engineers will pour over the data, make some changes and back I go out on the track. We just repeat that throughout the day.”

Though it wasn’t the most exciting day, Vickers still enjoyed the car.

“So far I love what I see with the new Camry. It looks good, and drives good."
