On Wednesday morning, NASCAR announced some changes to their Truck and XFINITY Series that will take effect next season.
The updates include:
- The Truck Series’ maximum field has been reduced from 36 to 32.
- The qualifying rule for the XFINITY Series (currently known as the Nationwide Series) and the Truck Series will resemble Sprint Cup Series qualifying.
- Drivers' last names will be featured on the rear window of each series’ cars and trucks, in an effort to help fans better identify their driver.
"Our mission of providing the best on-track product possible is always among our top objectives," said Robin Pemberton, senior vice president of competition and racing development, in a statement. "We're confident in the direction these changes will take these series."
