Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) announced that they’ll be moving their race shop from Concord, N.C. to Mooresville N.C. at the end of the season.

The team will return to the old shop inside Talbert Pointe in Mooresville that they worked out of from 2007-08. Both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series cars will be serviced from this shop.

Earlier this season, RPM announced that sponsor Smithfield Foods increased their investment in the team by 50 percent. RPM has seen an increase of 20 percent in revenue over the last year.

With the extra money, and a new shop, the team will be able to hang bodies onto the chassis, and have extra space for engineering and simulation.

“We needed a new location that allowed for more space to increase our performance,” said Richard Petty Motorsports CEO Brian Moffitt in a statement. “We continue to invest into the race operations to better ourselves on the track. It all starts in the race shop and having the best resources and assets. That’s what this move will allow us to do.”

“We’re moving back to a place that we have been before and really liked,” said co-owner Richard Petty. “It’s familiar to us and we know it gives our employees the tools they need to prepare our cars to win. This is just another improvement that we’re making to move the race team ahead.”
