Holm wants back in the cage: 'I would love to fight sooner than later'

Holly Holm isn't resting on her laurels after authoring the greatest upset in women's MMA history.

Less than two weeks after violently derailing the Ronda Rousey hype train at UFC 193, the 34-year-old Holm is itching to get back into the Octagon, though the promotion may not want to pull the trigger on a Rousey-Holm rematch until their historic UFC 200 card in July.

"I would love to be able to have a fight sooner than later but whatever opportunities comes and the UFC presents is what I'm going to go with," Holm told Fox Sports' Damon Martin.

Should Holm grow restless and refuse to wait for a Rousey rematch, there's a growing queue of 135-pounders salivating at the prospect of facing the new champion.

Miesha Tate, who was originally promised the title shot that eventually went to Holm, is openly campaigning for the bout.

"In my mind, I think this fight should go to me in the mean time in maybe three months and then as Ronda's filming her movie and getting what she needs to get to recover. I think for Ronda's first fight back, if she wants it to be a title shot, I think that it should be because I think she's earned that," Tate said.

"The thing is she's going to be out too long and I'm ready to go and I think Holly's ready to go so let's set it up in the mean time. When Ronda comes back she'll have a quality champion to face."

Although Tate's plan makes sense on paper, it's doubtful the UFC would risk the potential box-office megabucks of Holm-Rousey II in order to keep their new champion busy against a dangerous veteran like Tate.
