Holm discusses landing a big shot: 'Not to sound barbaric, but it's awesome'
Holly Holm's utter decimation of Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 was satisfying for a growing legion of people who had become tired of Rousey's sheer domination.
Naturally, no one's satisfaction level reached the stratosphere of Holm herself, who admitted that landing a big punch or kick feels "awesome" during a recent Q & A with The New York Times.
"Not to sound barbaric, but it's awesome," Holm said. "It's not that I have an evil heart. Hitting a clean shot is just instant gratification that the hard work is paying off. And you want to do it again. It’s an addicting thing."
Of course, Holm's "awesome" big shot came in the form of a vicious head kick, as "The Preacher's Daughter" capped off an almost perfect performance with a left shin to Rousey's relatively untested jaw.
Despite Holm's complete and thorough domination of the longtime women's bantamweight champion, she opened as a betting underdog for their potential rematch.
This revelation isn't likely to bother Holm, however, as the newly-minted champion is confident in her ability to consistently best the former face of women's MMA.
"Ten," Holm said when asked how many times she would win if she fought Rousey 10 times. "Because if I tell myself that there is one that I might not get, then I’ll be vulnerable.
"I also know that I'm beatable, so I'm going to train twice as hard. She's going to come back. She's mad that it’s not her title anymore. I've got to be twice as ready as last time."
