Boxer Jean Pascal calls out Nick Diaz: 'I can whoop his ass'

Nick Diaz is picking his next fight carefully, and one former boxing champion has volunteered his services.

One-time light heavyweight titleholder Jean Pascal told TMZ Sports he's sick of mixed martial artists like Conor McGregor claiming they can go toe-to-toe with actual students of the sweet science. In making his point, Pascal called for a fight with the elder Diaz brother.

"UFC fighters always say that they can fight, they can box, but I don't see that," Pascal said. "Nick Diaz talks a lot of trash and he never had someone who can talk back to him like I can do."

The 34-year-old Haitian-Canadian said he'd be fine with fighting in the Octagon or a ring, so long as the bout is conducted with boxing rules. He openly expressed his disdain for the grappling aspect of MMA, joking that he's more inclined to go to the ground with a woman than a man.

Pascal added that he likes his chances against Diaz, while questioning the former Strikeforce welterweight champion's credentials and suggesting their encounter takes place up north.

"I'm pretty sure that I can whoop his ass because I'm a fighter, I'm not a UFC wrestler," Pascal continued. "I fight with my fists, I'm standing up, and we've got boxing rules. Boxing is an art and I can tell Diaz why don't you come out of your redneck country and fight me in a real city like Montreal because that sh-t can be sold out.

"I'm pretty sure he's going to stay quiet because he's a coward," Pascal continued. "He's not a real man. He's not a real fighter. He's not a real soldier."
