Dayan Viciedo's travels have taken him from playing third base in Cuba to the outfield of the Chicago White Sox, to the minor leagues, and now quite possibly to Japan.

The 26-year-old is close to signing with the Chunichi Dragons of Nippon Professional Baseball, according to Patrick Newman of NPB Tracker based on a report from Japanese outlet Sanspo.com.

If the Dragons acquire Viciedo, they may not retain former big leaguer Hector Luna, who spent the past three seasons with the club.

Viciedo hit .287/.348/.450 with eight home runs and 28 RBIs in 276 minor-league plate appearances last season.

He last appeared in the show in 2014, posting his best career numbers in 2012 when he swatted 25 home runs and added 78 RBIs. He owns a career .254/.298/.424 hitting line with 66 home runs and 211 RBIs in 1675 at-bats.

Chunichi's also reportedly close to an agreement with former big-league southpaw Jordan Norberto.
