Matt Harvey's role in the National League Division Series will be limited to one game.

Harvey won't pitch again in the series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets manager Terry Collins said Tuesday.

"The only thing I mapped out is when we talked about Matt Harvey pitching in the playoffs," Collins told reporters. "When we were going through that whole situation about 180 innings and this and that, when we talked about him pitching in the playoffs, the only thing we said was that in the first round, he's probably going to get one start. So what game is it going to be? That's as far looking into the future as we went."

Collins said he won't consider using Harvey out of the bullpen. Nor will he use right-hander Noah Syndergaard out of the bullpen in Game 4 on Tuesday, explaining the youngster was "pretty sore" after his Game 2 start.

The team does, however, expect Harvey to be available for multiple starts if they make it to the NL Championship Series.

Harvey's been on an innings limit, which created controversy at the end of the regular season.

Harvey pitched in Game 3 of the NLDS on Monday. He lasted five innings, allowing seven hits, two earned runs, and striking out seven in the Mets' 13-7 win.

In the regular season, he pitched to a 2.17 ERA and 1.02 WHIP in 29 starts.
