Odor's standout playoff debut paces Rangers

Dan Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

The Texas Rangers took a 1-0 lead in their American League Division Series against the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday, and though they had many strong performances throughout the lineup, none was more impressive than that of their 21-year-old second baseman.

Rougned Odor, who was making his playoff debut, scored runs following each of his first three at-bats, coming around after being hit by a pair of David Price pitches in the third and fifth innings before becoming the youngest Ranger - and second-youngest second baseman in major-league history - to hit a postseason home run in the seventh.

That wasn't the only rare feat Odor achieved Thursday, as he became the youngest player to score three runs in a playoff game since Andruw Jones did so in the 1996 World Series. Odor also became the fourth player with two HBPs and a home run in a playoff game.

He wasn't only doing damage at the plate, though; his knee took Josh Donaldson out of the game in the fourth inning, and his arm made this nice play to retire pinch-hitter Ezequiel Carrera in the fifth.

Odor had career highs in nearly every offensive category this season, including a .261/.316/.465 batting line, 16 home runs, and 61 RBIs.
