Reds GM: Bryan Price won't be fired, will return in 2016

Things haven't gone as planned for the Cincinnati Reds in 2015, but general manager Walt Jocketty isn't pinning the disappointing campaign on his manager, Bryan Price.

"Just to put this to rest, Bryan is coming back as the Reds manager in 2016," Walt Jocketty told reporters Saturday. "We are going to discuss the coaching staff over the next couple weeks and we'll make an announcement about that in two-to-three weeks."

Price has one year remaining on the three-year deal he signed when he replaced Dusty Baker as manager following the 2013 season.

"When we hired Bryan two years ago, we felt that he was the right guy for trying to bring this club going forward and we still believe in that," Jocketty added. "We had a lot unfortunate things happen this year - injuries and at the trade deadline we made strong business decisions to make some trades that obviously depleted our roster and made it difficult to win games."

The Reds (63-97) carry a 13-game losing streak into action Saturday, and could finish with the worst record in baseball, depending on how the Philadelphia Phillies wrap up the regular season.

"He deserves another chance, we need to play better for him and we need to show why he's going to be a really good manager," third baseman Todd Frazier said.

Price is 139-183 in his two years at the helm in Cincinnati.
